Heartburn Awareness Challenge is a patient care project dedicated to raising awareness about heartburn within the community. During our events students educate patients about what causes heartburn, how it can be prevented, and what over the counter products are available for treatment. Additionally, heartburn assessment questionnaires are completed in order to estimate the severity of the complaint.
The events take place approximately once a month at community pharmacies, senior homes and free clinics. It's not only a great way to help patients enjoy healthier and happier lives, but also to put into practice the knowledge gained in the classroom. The role of the pharmacist is changing so join us for the events, improve your counseling skills, and get ready for a change!
“I found this event to be a good opportunity to practice patient counseling skills. Also, volunteering at a local community pharmacy gave us a chance to correct the myths about heartburn that many people had in the community. “
